Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald G. Waite, Sr. Pawlet, VT – Donald Guy Waite, Sr, age 82, joined our Lord in heaven on December 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on April 7th, 1935 in Pawlet,Vermont, in the same house he lived most of his life in, and is the son of the late Guy and Doris (Merrill) Waite. Donald was a life long member of the Morning Flower Lodge No. 71 of the of the Society of Free and Accepted Masons, and was a founding member of the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department.. Donald was predeceased by his wife, parents and a grandson. Survivors are his children: Kathleen and her spouse Beth of Pawlet, Donald Jr. and his wife Susan of Pawlet, Douglas of Manchester, Peter and his wife Patricia of Pownal, and Paul and his wife Catherine of W. Rutland. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Donald will be remembered as a man who was deeply loved by all. Known for his quiet personality and kind demeanor but also for his incredible work ethic and leadership. His was an ordinary life, little different from any other Vermont dairy farmer of his generation. He married his young love Joanne, who he met in grade school and together they raised five children. He spent every healthy day of his life on the land he was born and grew up on. And his final days where spent looking out at that same land. He was a farmer who worked hard and provided for his family. A husband who loved his wife. A father who loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He was just a farmer but we guess when God needed folks to care for this earth, He chose "just farmers" because he knew their true worth. You will forever remain alive in our hearts and memories Dad, and though we are learning to live without you here, we still miss you so much. Until we meet again. A Celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, January 13th from 1-4 pm at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY. There will be Masonic Rites at 3pm, followed by Chaplain service. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Nurses, aides, and staff of the Rutland Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice. The dedicated, and loving care they provided Donald allowed him to stay at home with his family during his brief illness. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to RAVNA, POB 787, Rutland, VT 05701 or to the American Cancer Society, .
