Helen Folger Granville, NY – Helen Folger died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 20th, 2018 at Granville Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation after a brief illness. Born September 25, 1928 in Pittsfield, MA she was the daughter of the late Walter Pierce and Edith (Brown) Housman of East Chatham, NY. She was a graduate of Granville High School and married George Willard Folger on October 27, 1947. They had four children: Diane (John) McGuire, Thomas, Hollis (Peter) Thomas and Jonathan (Karen); two granddaughters: Melissa and Nola, and six great grandchildren. She had one sister Shirley Hanley and two brothers Nelson Housman and Willard Folger and several nieces and nephews. Helen is predeceased by her husband George, and daughters Diane and Hollis, her sister Shirley Hanley and brother Willard (Bill) Folger. A private contract school bus driver for Granville Central School for many years, Helen remembered every student she drove, and continued to keep in touch with some of them. She was a member of the Granville Baptist Church, and active in the choir for many years. Her beautiful flower gardens won awards and gave her much joy. She was a talented painter, an avid reader and knitter, and played the piano and organ. Helen enjoyed cooking and spending time with her extended family. She will be buried at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with her husband at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.
