Cora Mae Ward Salem, NY – Cora Mae Ward, age 63, joined her parents and 2 brothers in heaven on February 5, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Cora was born on October 2, 1953 in Manhattan, New York, the daughter of pre-deceased parents, Everett and Renee (Owens) Nix, Sr. Also pre-deceased were her two brothers, Everett Nix Jr. and James Nix. Cora was a graduate of Washington Academy School. She was a member of the bowling league. Cora was full of life and well-liked by her peers and teachers. She enjoyed music, dance, and crafts of many kinds. Cora also enjoyed going to bingo with her family and friends. Cora was formerly employed by CB Sports in Salem and served many years as an accountant and secretary in the office of the Battenkill Railroad both in Salem and Greenwich. Cora is survived by Alexis Pinchuk, a 30 year companion; and special sister. She is also survived by her children, Gregory Nix of Anchorage, Alaska, Renee Ward of Whitehall, and Alex Pinchuk III (son and caregiver) of Salem, New York. She is also leaving behind 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Cora was also survived by her sisters, Irene Moss (Paul) of Salem, Veronica Bounds (Jeffery Sr. ) of Argyle, Mary Nix of Glenn Burnie, Maryland, Theresa Nix (Everett Jr.) of Hudson Falls, Diane Nix (James) of Whitehall, and many nieces and nephews. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center, Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls, New York 12801. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Salem. There will also be a gathering after the service Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.
