Edward L. Evans, Jr.
Granville, NY/Rutland VT – Edward L. "Herk" Evans, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2017.
He was born on October 22, 1952 in Granville, NY the son of the late Edward L. and Henrietta (Bates) Evans.
Eddie was a 1970 graduate of Granville High School. He was a proud Army Veteran. He was an avid hunter. He loved playing pool and participating in pool tournaments. If it had a motor Herk was interested. He spent from early in his childhood fixing and tinkering with dirt bikes, motorcycles and all types of motor vehicles. He was a car racing enthusiast, whether driving, being part of a pit crew, or merely spectating.
Herk was predeceased by his parents, a sister Darlene (Lisa) Evans, a niece Christina Stewart and two nephews, Clifford Stewart Jr. and John Roy Hodgon.
He is survived by seven sons and one daughter: Edward L. Evans III of Granville, Jason Evans, William Evans (PJ) of Pawlet, VT, twin sons: Jeffrey and Jeremy, Nicholas and Patrick all of Tinmouth, VT and his daughter Sonia Bradley (Dave) of Hudson Falls, NY. Also 3 grandchildren: Dustin, Mason and Emma. Eddie is also survived by five sisters: Joan Moore (Wayne) of Granville, Norma Weeden (Charles) of Pawlet, VT, Cynthia Hrabar (Bruce) of Granville, Donna Stewart (Bill) of Hampton, and Dorothy Colburn (Sam) of Salem, NY and one brother Raymond Evans (Cathy) of Granville in addition to many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 2 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville with the Rev. Jerry McKinney presiding. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 31 from 6 – 8 PM.
