On Nov 28th 2024, with support from her loving family, the amazing staff at the Equinox Terrace Special Care Unit, and Bayada Hospice, Celia A. Sears 79 of Middle Granville, NY, broke free from the confines of Dementia which had greedily taken away so much from her for far too long.
Celia was born on Sept 2,1945 in Barre, VT. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Sears in 2021, parents William Leon Keith and Shirley (Shepard) as well as her brother William Keith Jr (Donna). She is survived by her sister Georgianna Gagnon (Kenneth) of Middlesex, VT, Darleen Hall of Montpelier, VT, and Nellie Gillander of Bradenton FL. 4 children, Louise (Duffey) Hayes (Tom) of Tinmouth, VT, Ernest LaPlante of Calis, VT. Brian Hayward of North Bennington, VT, and Pamela (Hayward) LaRose (Brian), of Middle Granville NY. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Many of her years were spent living in Danby, VT where she raised her kids, went to night school to gain her GED and worked various jobs. After her kids were grown, she found her most rewarding job as a Home Health Aide. Her kindness and compassion made her perfect for this profession. She often formed deep bonds with those she provided care for.
Celia was always the life of the party and up for most anything. Having a good time was just who she was no matter what she was doing. Country Music, Dancing, Karaoke, or gambling in Saratoga were among her favorite things. She was funny, opinionated, stubborn but instantly loveable. If she knew you, you were her friend. We will miss her dearly and hope she and her BFF Sandy are celebrating with some dancing and karaoke.
Celia's wishes were for a private family burial at the Gage Cemetery in Vergennes, next to her beloved husband Ed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements are under the care of Robert M King Funeral Home in Granville, NY.
