Obituary of Terry Lee McLellan
Please share a memory of Terry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Terry Lee McLellan, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Febuary 5, 2025 at Albany Medical Center. Terry was born to Chester Sr. and Cassandra "Salli" (Battease) McLellan of Danby on October 30, 1961, in Rutland, Vermont. She graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1979 and eventually opened her own house cleaning business.
Terry had a strong love and passion for cooking, baking, and hosting holiday dinners. She was well known for her delicious pickled sausages, spaghetti sauce with meatballs, and pies, especially apple for her son, James. She made all the food for her son, James, and daughter-in-law, Elisha's, wedding, that their guests raved about for months. Terry's selfless, giving nature was often demonstrated by picking up sentimental gifts for friends and family because it reminded her of them, helping someone in need, and/or giving somone a place to stay. She was also a spontanous traveler. She would hop in the car, with no particular destination in mind, and let her heart lead the way. Not only was Terry loved because of her kind heart, but she was also a joy to have around because of her humorous personality. She always had a smile on her face and loved to make others smile and laugh. She loved to send prank gifts to her son, Zachary, and daughter-in-law, Marzjan, when they were living in Tennessee just to get a phone call from them laughing about it.
Terry is survived by her sons, James and Zachary McLellan, and her father, Chester Sr. McLellan of Danby. She is also survived by her brother, Chester McLellan Jr. of East Dorset, and sisters, Debbie Ross of Pawlet and Tonya Powers of Danby. In addition, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by her premature son, Frances McLellan, and her companion, Jeffery Macheski, with whom she shared many cherished years. She is survived by her devoted companion, Ronnie Kent, who remained by her side in the later years. Ronnie's strong love, commitment, and devotion to Terry kept her smiling and feeling loved every day untill she passed away.
There will be no funeral service or calling hours per Terry's wishes. A Celebration of Life for Terry will be held this upcoming spring. The family wishes that people make donations to a charity of their choice in lieu of sending flowers.
