It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Franklin Hathaway Jr. on July 8th, 2025.

James was born on March 10, 1963, to James F Hathaway Sr and the late Ruth Espy (Cleveland) Hathaway. He was a graduate of Granville Central School.

Jim was a beacon of kindness and a quiet strength that cannot be matched. He worked on the land with honest hands and a humble heart, dedicating himself to the farm with a sense of pride and purpose. Known not just for his work ethic, but also for his generous spirit. He would give without hesitation, listen without judgement, and love without conditions. Whether it was offering a helping hand to a neighbor, lending an ear to someone in need or showing up just when you needed him most – he was always there. Dependable, Steady, True.

A loyal son, caring brother, thoughtful nephew, uncle and cousin. A supportive friend and neighbor. He was a pillar of patience and kindness. Though his time with us was too short, the impact Jim has left will never fade. His goodness lives on in all the lives he touched and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.

James is predeceased by his mother Ruth.

Survivors include his father James Sr, his sisters Winona Espy (Scott) Eastman and Kyle Dawn Hathaway; his nephews Connor Scott and Zachary (Kristin) Eastman and niece Jillian Eastman. His grandnephews Ethan and Evan Eastman and grandniece Magnolia Eastman; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends may call from 6-8 pm Thursday July 17, 2025, at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday July 18, 2025, at the Pawlet Community Church, 38 VT Route 133, Pawlet, VT, with the burial (Northeast Cemetery, Route 133, Pawlet, VT) and Celebration of life to immediately follow.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so in Jim's memory to the Pawlet Community Church.

Scott Eastman, Connor Eastman, Scott Cleveland, Scott Hathaway, Leon Clark Jr and Kenneth Cleveland will honor James as bearers.

Honorary bearers are Zachary Eastman, Arthur Cleveland, Edgar Cleveland, Gregory Cleveland, John Hathaway Jr. and John Hathaway Sr.
