Granville, NY - Rose E. McHenry, age 98, passed away on August 24, 2025 at her home at 88 E. Quaker Street, Granville, following an illness.

Rose was born on March 24, 1927 in Argyle, NY the daughter of Leonard and Esther (Moore) Whitney.

Rose married her husband David McHenry, who was "the boy next door". He was the love of her life. They worked very hard at their home in Slyboro. Rose was never one to shy away from work. She did housecleaning, wallpapering and painting. Rose lived a very simple farm life and loved it.

She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Helen Evans, Art Whitney and John Whitney, her husband David and her daughter Rita Swezey. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Mary Lussier (Daniel) and her son-in-law Michael Swezey. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Amy (Dayton), David (Marie), Erin (Jake), Jenny (Frank), Karin and Stacey (Brian), 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rose's family wishes to thank the caregivers whose presence in her life allowed her to remain in her home. Also Dr. Day for his home visits.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Middle Granville at 11 AM. Following the burial a celebration of her life will be held at the Hartford Fire Company, in Hartford, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Rose's memory to the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department, POB 121, Hartford, NY 12838.
