Anna Mae Delia (Terrio) Diffee
September 15, 1943 – October 2, 2025
On October 2nd at 11:52 a.m., Heaven received an Angel.
Our beautiful, sweet mother, Anna Mae Delia (Terrio) Diffee, passed away at 82 years old, peacefully with family and loved ones by her bedside. She prayed to pass in her sleep at her home in Granville, New York, and God answered her prayers. She passed peacefully and without pain — that was so important to all of us, to make her as comfortable as possible. We are so thankful to Marvin Day from the Granville Medical Center and the nurses and staff of High Peaks Hospice for helping us make that happen.
Our mom was never alone. Family was always with her, especially these past few months as she declined. We stayed by her side 24/7 to make sure she was loved, cared for, and had everything she needed. When our mom was sick, she still wanted to make sure everyone else was okay and that she wasn't a burden. Even in her final days, she worried about her family, and we reassured her that everyone was okay — rest and go to Dad and God in Heaven, Mom.
You were never a burden, Mama — only a blessing from God. ??
Our mom was the most beautiful person, inside and out. She loved everyone and never judged anyone. She was kind, selfless, funny, and full of life. She had a heart of gold and saw the good in everyone. Her smile could light up any room, and her laughter was contagious. She always made sure everyone felt loved and welcomed, whether it was with a warm meal, a hug, or her comforting words. Anytime an ambulance drove by or she heard sirens, she would stop what she was doing and say a prayer for them.
She found joy and peace reading her Bible and her daily devotionals. She prayed before every meal and before going to sleep each night. She reminded us to never forget to say our prayers. She was a devoted believer in God and the promise of Heaven.
Anna was born on September 15, 1943, in Hudson Falls, New York, to her parents Wilfred Joseph Terrio and Rose Alma (Daire) Terrio. In her younger years, she met the love of her life, Clark Fredrick Diffee Sr., and later they were married. Together, they built a beautiful life and a family filled with laughter, love, and faith. They were blessed with eight children — five girls and three boys — and two heavenly children called Home before birth.
Their marriage was a true example of devotion and partnership. They shared countless memories and faced every challenge together with strength and grace. Their love was truly a love of a lifetime — even after nearly their entire lives together, their love only grew. They could often be found walking hand in hand. Their home was not filled with many monetary things, but it was always overflowing with love.
Anna and Clark also shared a deep compassion for the many animals and pets they cared for over the years. They especially loved feeding the birds and listening to their beautiful songs.
Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Family — and her husband — meant everything to her, and she gave up so much to have a big family and a loving home. She worked hard, loved deeply, and always put others before herself. Whether she was cooking meals, caring for her children and grandchildren, or simply sitting and talking over coffee, she made every moment feel special. Even with a large family, she never forgot anyone's birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. She was always thinking of others.
Anna loved to sing — Patsy Cline was her favorite — and she had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed writing poetry, playing card games, doing puzzles, sewing, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Heartland. She loved her plants, had a green thumb, and could bring any plant back to life. Her favorite flowers were carnations and lilies of the valley. She loved nature, sunshine, and all of God's creatures — from birds in the yard to the frogs she adored. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and planting flowers. In her later years, she loved sitting on her front porch listening to her wind chimes and the birds.
She found peace in the simple things and taught us to do the same: to cherish the little moments, to forgive easily, to love unconditionally, to never go to bed angry, and to always say, "I love you."
In her younger years, Anna worked as a dietitian and candy striper at Glens Falls Hospital — a job she loved because it allowed her to help people. Later in life, she worked on a potato farm. After her children were grown, Anna and her husband Clark ran a cleaning business together. She also worked for ten years with her family at her daughter's preschool and daycare, Precious Moments, where she loved spending each day with the children who adored her in return.
Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched. We will carry her love, her faith, and her gentle spirit with us always.
