South Granville, NY – Norma L. Cosey passed away on December 18, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born on October 19, 1934, in Kingsbury, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Fowler) Bissell.

Norma married the love of her life, John Cosey, on October 20, 1951. They shared 74 years of wedded bliss, creating a much-cherished family out of their love. She worked for 28 years at the Washington County Department of Social Services while it was located here in Granville.

Norma was an amazing wife and mother, and she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, cooking and baking, in addition to working full-time.

Norma and John were active in the South Granville Congregational Church, where she was a member of the church choir and Bible study group.

She was always a kind, sweet woman. Her granddaughter, Amy, started calling her "my sweetie," a name which was taken up by many others, even her caregivers

Norma was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Raymond Bissell, and a great-grandson, Nicholas Heald.

She is survived by her husband, John Cosey; her three children: Thomas Cosey (Mary), Ronald Cosey (Valerie), and Nancy Dillenbeck (James), all of Granville, and her sister, Charlene Gary of Granville.

Norma was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Amy Gurdo (John), Jennie Russo (Jeremy), John Cosey (Jillian), Chandler Redmond, Chaisleigh Cosey, Kirse Cosey, Thomas Cosey (Casey), Susan Lio, Joseph Cosey, Benjamin Cosey (Serena), Tyler Kelly (Rachel), Alexander Bernard (Hayleigh), and Elijah Dillenbeck (Hannah).

Her blessings grew through the years as 17 great-grandchildren were added to the ranks and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the wonderful caregivers who made it possible for Norma to live at home throughout her illness.

A funeral will be held at the South Granville Congregational Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Noon. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Haynes House of Hope, 7187 State Route 149, Granville, NY 12832, or to the South Granville Congregational Church, 7179 NY-149, Granville, NY 12832, to help with the basement repair fund in Norma's memory.
