Theodore J. Briggs Obituary
Theodore "Ted" Briggs, 88, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2025, following a long illness.
Ted was born in Felts Mills, NY, to Elwood Leon Briggs and Lottie (Taylor) Briggs. He graduated from Carthage Central School in 1957 and entered the United States Air Force that same year. Ted served his country honorably from 1957 to 1969, with assignments in Greece, Turkey, Vietnam, and the United States.
In March of 1970, Ted married the love of his life, Mildred "Millie" Adams. Later that year, they made their home in Granville, NY, where they built a life together and remained ever since. Ted was employed by Tyco Healthcare Kendall in Argyle, NY, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2004.
Ted was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers, Leon, Clifton, William, and Wayne. He is survived by his beloved wife, Millie; his sister, Rosemary Riley of Carthage, NY; his children, Brian Briggs of Gentry, AR, Darren Briggs of Granville, NY, Kristen (Atlee) Mousseau of Litchfield, ME, and Gretchen (Jeff) Richards of Hartford, NY; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ted will be remembered most for his love for God, dedication to family, appreciation for nature, and fondness for gardening.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11 AM at the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department, 8818 State Route 40, Hartford, NY with a luncheon to follow. Ted will be buried at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11 AM. Friends are welcome to join the family there but space is limited.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Haynes House of Hope (7187 State Route 149, Granville, NY, 12832) where Ted and Millie volunteered in their younger years, or the Granville Rescue Squad (52 East Potter Avenue, Granville, NY 12832).
