Pawlet, VT - ?Lynne K. (Kaveny) Sheldon, age 71, passed away peacefully on November 20., 2025 following a long illness. Lynne was born on February 22, 1954 in Montclair, New Jersey. Her mother, with five children moved to Vermont when Lynne was six years old. She has called Pawlet her home ever since.

As a teenager, Lynne was employed at Mach's Market in Pawlet. During her employment at Mach's she learned the art of cutting meat. Her mentor was big "John" Mach. She continued to develop her meat cutting skills at Waite's Meat Locker and as the meat cutter/cook at the family owned business, The Barn Steakhouse. She later started her own catering business, her speciality...steaks.

Lynne was competitive and athletic. She played all sports. She was a team player. She especially enjoyed playing golf with her mother at Lake St. Catherine. The friendships she made from participation in sports lasted a lifetime.

Lynne pursued her education at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina with a major in physical education. She later received a diploma in Reflexology from Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork and became a massage therapist.

Lynne enjoyed cooking for others. That was her gift. She was happiest behind her grill feeding friends and family at gatherings and social events.

Community was important to Lynne. She was a volunteer. She would bake and cook food for any kind of fundraiser for the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Dept, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for the VFW.

Lynne loved her family. She would do anything any time for a family member or friend. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Dorothy Kaveny and sister Margaret K. Werner. Survivors are her son, James Sheldon, granddaughter Bailey Sheldon and grandson Sam Sheldon, brothers Don and J.J Kaveny (Lorri Hoeflich), sister Susan K Rawls (Richard "Tuck"), and many nieces and nephews.

She will be sorely missed but will remain in our hearts forever!

There will be a celebration of life for Lynne on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery, Cemetery Hill in Pawlet followed by a reception. The graveside ceremony will start at 11 am.
