Hartford, NY - Richard A. Holcomb passed away at his home on January 13, 2026.
Richard was born on October 28, 1947 in Granville, NY, the son of the late George R. and Jennie C. (Brown) Holcomb.
He lived his life with an abundance of adventure and humor. If you were fortunate enough to have met him you would most definitely have a story to tell whether it was a good or unsavory story, it was one to be remembered.
In his younger years he enjoyed truck pulling with his Gremlin "Mr. T." He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
An occasional afternoon at the Racino was always a good time.
He ran a successful flea market business that became his favorite pastime. It gave him the opportunity to be a social butterfly. A wonderful perk was the gain of several good friends along the way.
Richard was predeceased by his father George and mother Jennie, a brother George Jr, sister Alta Ward, sister-in-law Ann Holcomb and his grandparents. He was also predeceased by his canine friends Charlie and Maggie and feline friend Cruze.
He is survived by his life partner of 21 years Sandra Sawn and children Heidi Collins (Scott), Melissa Weatherwax, Steven Green (Kristin), Rhoda Fontaine, Brian Sawn and Patrick Sawn. He is also survived by his sister Lucy Novinger and brother Jeff Holcomb (Judy) as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. And his best canine friend Max.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
