David Vaness Ballard, 38 of Granville, NY, passed away on January, 14th, 2026. Born on July 3, 1987, in Rutland, Vermont. David brought light and laughter to those around him throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Granville High School's class of 2006 David went on to serve his country in the United States Army. His time in the military reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment; qualities that remain central to who he was throughout his life.

David was a man whose humor and generosity left lasting impressions. He had a natural gift for making people laugh and a compassionate heart that drew people together. Whether through a quick-witted joke or a helping hand David made those around him feel seen and supported.

He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life such as fishing, tending to his garden with care and riding bikes with his daughters. These were not just hobbies, but expressions of his love and connection that defined his days.

David cherished every moment that he spent with his wife, Katie Ballard and their two daughters, Vanessa and Brooke Ballard. They were the center of his world— the three loves of his life. Together they created countless memories during their annual trips to Maine and unforgettable vacations to Disneyland and Myrtle Beach. David's love for the water was evident in these adventures. It was where he felt most at peace and alive.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Katie; Daughter's, Vanessa and Brooke; mother Carrie McCullen and stepfather Ron McCullen; sisters Michelle McCullen and Kristine Ballard; brother Carl Ballard; brother-in-law, Nick Gould; niece, Rory Gould; nephew Nicolas Gould and many other friends and family.

David's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the laughter he inspired, the kindness he shared and the love he gave so freely.
