William Moore Young, a lifelong resident of Pawlet Vermont, passed away April 9, 2026, just shy

of his 72 nd birthday. Bill was born April 19, 1954, in Cambridge, New York. He was the son of

Vernon "Sam" and Carolyn (Moore) Young.

Bill spent most of his working life dedicated to driving trucks. A short stint with the Mayflower

Trucking Company took him across a good portion of the United States. After that, he had a long

career of driving milk trucks for J & J Trucking in Pawlet picking up milk from dairy farms in

Vermont and New York and transporting it to various creameries.

Bill enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed competing in black powder

muzzleloader shooting matches with The Seth Warner Muzzleloading Club in Vermont, New

York, New Hampshire and Maine winning many of the matches he entered. He particularly

enjoyed the more primitive side of muzzleloaders owning and shooting many period flintlock,

smoothbore muzzleloading firearms. He attended numerous primitive mountain men

rendezvous reenactments around the Northeast always making many memories and friends. He

also served as Field Representative for the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association. In his

retirement, Bill enjoyed riding his four-wheeler around the farm always on the lookout for

wildlife.

Bill is survived by his brother, David Young (Glenda), his nephew, Adam Young (Amanda) and his

great nephews, Aaron and Aiden Young, several cousins and close friends. He was predeceased

by his parents.

According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours, and the funeral will be private and at the

convenience of the family.
