Dorothy A. Jurnak, age 97, of Granville, NY went into the loving arms of the Lord on May 7, 2026.


She was born in Connecticut on September 5, 1928 the daughter of the Peter and Marie (Rottjer) Athans. Dorothy was one of four children.


Dorothy was a devout catholic and faithful member of St. Mary's Church in Granville. The family extends heartfelt thanks to her beloved friend, Linda Crawford, for so lovingly providing her transportation to church. She was also a member of the American Legion in Hudson Falls and Granville for many years. Dorothy's favorite past times were reading romance books, doing word search and jigsaw puzzles.


She worked for many years at Native Textiles in Glens Falls and later opened a sewing shop with a friend on Main Street in Granville.


Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Peter S. Jurnak Sr. She was also predeceased by four children Annamarie Winchell, Kathleen Hayward, Peter Jurnak and Lawrence Jurnak. She is survived by four children Christine Brown (Thomas), Andrea Edwards, Andrew Jurnak and Sandra Sturdivant (Paul). Dorothy was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law Ken Hayward.


She will be sorely missed by those who loved and cherished her.

Friends may call from 9-10:30 AM on Monday, May 25, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 11 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
