Barbara Brault

Whitehall, NY - Barbara Brault, passed away at Rutland Regional Medical Center on May 30 2026, following a long illness, surrounded by the family she loved so much.

Barbara was born on July 19th, 1947 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Jones) Meuse. She was a graduate of Danvers High School in Massachusetts in 1966. She married John Brault on June 25th, 1967. They were happily married for 54 1/2 years until his passing in 2021.

Barbara also felt very fortunate to be lucky enought to be a full time Mother and wife. She loved spending time with her family especially going on adventures with her daughter and granddaughter.

She and John moved to Whitehall in 1976. The spent a great deal of time traveling which they enjoyed immeasurably. They had visited Hawaii, Alaska, the Carribean to name a few and many other stops throughout the United States. Barbara loved it all, but always exclaimed that her favorite place was home with family.

Barbara was an avid reader. She loved having the companionship of her dog Pixie. Barbara also enjoyed going to camp every summer for many years.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband John, her parents Frank and Jennie Meuse and her in-laws. Survivors are her daughter Tammy Schmeelke (Bill) and her special granddaughter Hannah. She will be missed by her siblings Dorothy White (Ken), and Lawrence (Sharon) Meuse as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Barbara will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 4-6PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville, NY.

Her burial will be at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemtery in Schuylerville, NY on June 12th where she will join John. A celebration of life will be held following the committal at a place to be announced. Check the website for further details.
