I so regret that no one contacted me I'm Vernon's cousin and would have wanted to be at his wake and funeral service. Goodbye, Vernon.

“Vern” was a great psych nurse, NP, and faculty colleague at SPHP Schools of Nursing. He could always be counted on to offer friendly and resourceful assistance when needed. He will be missed by many. Rest In Peace friend.

Vernon was a colleague at both Memorial and Samaritan Hospital Schools of Nursing. We had many discussions regarding nursing practice and enjoyed the fact that we were both graduates of SUNY Plattsburgh.
Rest in peace.

There has always been a small community of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in the area and as a results we always would come into contact with each other through the years. So it was for me and Vern. I remember many years ago sitting with him at a class at Russell Sage College, later working with him at Samaritan school of nursing, and then contact with our work as psychiatric nurse practitioners.
There was some times the surprise and astonishment he would talk about, sometimes the laugh and joke, but most often the smile. He will be missed in the community of professionals and by his friends.

I was lucky to have met Vernon at Samaratin Hospital. It always made my day when he walked thru the door with his students. He had great stories to share, a shining sense of humor and would always bring up the fact that I once owned a Yugo and we would both giggle. There are folks that you meet in life some always remembered and he is one of mine.863r7
