Charles E. Adkins Middle Granville, NY –Charles E. Adkins passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2018. Charles E. Adkins was born May 2, 1942 in Glens Falls, New York, the son of George Merle and Mildred Brice (Peters) Adkins As a teenager, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He graduated from Granville High School. and went on to work at a tape factory in southern New York and then decided to enlist in the Air Force at the age of 19. He went to San Antonio, TX to boot camp, then went to Biloxi, Mississippi to learn about electronics for the Air Force. He came back to Granville and married Connie M. Butler, and they shipped out to start their new life and his career in Abilene, TX. After 20 years in the Air Force and a relocation to Alaska, he retired from the military. He and Connie stayed in Alaska for another 30 or so years. He spent 20 of those years working for the U S Bureau of Land Management in Alaska. He decided to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks and graduated with a BA in Archaeology and spent most of the rest of his time in Alaska, working for the US Bureau of Land Management as an Archaeologist on the North Slope of Alaska. They decided to move back to Granville at his retirement and bought a nice home, which he and Connie shared for the rest of his life. He had many talents and participated in historic reenactments, hunted moose in the Alaska Range foothills, learned locksmithing, gunsmithing, and loved to play board games and card games. He grew up fascinated by historic firearms, and it turned out to be a lifetime hobby for him. Charles was predeceased by his parents and a sister Natalie Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife Constance and his two sons, George Warren Adkins (Edie) of Granville and John Frederick Adkins (Kathryn) of Cleburne, Texas. He was blessed with two grandchildren Chloe of Cleburne, Texas and Aaron of Fairbanks, Alaska. Charles will also be missed by his brother George Adkins (Donna) of Statesboro Georgia.
