Linda Jean McFarren Granville, NY – Linda Jean McFarren, age 69, passed away at Albany Medical Center following a short illness. Linda was born on December 16, 1948 the daughter of Richard and Lena (Bushy) Barker, Sr. Linda was employed for many years in the slate industry working at both Sheldon Slate Products and Tatko Bros. in Granville, NY She was a real "people" person. Striking up a conversation was never a problem for her. She enjoyed talking with all people, and if you weren't a friend when you met her, you were by the end of the conversation. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening. Her flowers brought beauty to all who had the privilege of seeing them. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds who came to appreciate her gardens as well. She loved her family very much. Christmas and Halloween were two of her favorite holidays because they revolve around the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her children knew that everyday they could expect a call from Mom. It was simple, "Where are you? or What are you doing?" Just staying in touch and active in their lives. Linda taught her children to appreciate life. She instilled in them the value of memories. Memories are for sharing and remembering. Linda was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Stewart McFarren. She is also survived by her children Gerald P. Wideawake (Walletta) of Fort Ann, Vickie Monroe (Robert) of Granville, April Jurnak (Ronald) of Granville and Ruth Wells of Cambridge. She is also survived by a special nephew William J Barker of Springfield, VT. She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Ashley, Jessie, Ashley, Robert, Steven, Harold, Dakota, Savannah and Lloyd and four great grandchildren: Lucas, Isabella, Addison and Emma. Linda has seven siblings who survive her: Alfred, Fred and Richard Barker, Mary Forrest, Gladys Jamison, Alice and Sue Barker. Linda loved long walks with her canine companion Ruger, who also survives her. A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date with close family and friends. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.
