Obituary of Raymond Edward VanGuilder

Raymond E. VanGuilder Granville, NY – Raymond E. VanGuilder, age 55, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14, 2018 after a long illness. Raymond was born on May 16, 1963 in Glens Falls, NY the son of Alex and Wilma (Pope) VanGuilder. Raymond was a humble native of Granville and graduated from Granville High school in 1981. Raymond was the proud father of five sons and three daughters whom he loved very dearly, especially his youngest daughter Marie. Raymond was a perfectionist and a master of his craft and expected nothing but excellence from those around him. Nothing made him happier than passing along his knowledge to other craftsman, many of whom have moved on to also be master Flooring Installers. He was a very caring man who would do anything within his power for his friends and family and was always the first to offer a home to anyone who needed one. Raymond was a man of high moral fiber and values, he was also a mentor and father figure to many young men and women as well as his own children instilling those values to all. Raymond enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his friends and family and he always had a joke and a warm seat to cheer someone up on a bad day, whether it was at your expense or not, his wit never went unappreciated. Those who were closest to Raymond knew him as the man he truly was, a hard worker, a loyal friend and a loving Father/Grandfather who will be missed by everyone he loved and remembered with a smile. Ray was predeceased by his parents and by three siblings Edgar, Alex and Billy VanGuilder. Survivors are his siblings Alice Yates, Rosemary Jendell, Tammy VanGuilder, Rebecca Jones and Charles VanGuilder as well as his children Joshua Osterhaudt, Jeremiah Bagley, Zackery Jurnak, Neimiah VanGuilder, Jhasiah VanGuilder, Makayla Hudy, Morgan Hudy and Marie Hudy. He was blessed with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews that will also miss him very dearly. Following his wishes Ray will be cremated. There will be visitation on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville, NY.
