Obituary of Marvin Delos Waite

Marvin D. Waite

Pawlet, VT – Marvin D. Waite, age 89, passed in to peaceful rest on October 17, 2018 at his home after a hard battle with a long illness.

Marvin was born on September 24, 1929 in Pawlet, Vermont the son of the late Martin and Lillian (Appling) Waite Sr.

He was a proud Army Veteran having served in the Korean War.

Marvin did several jobs throughout his life but the longest was a Supervisor at Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville for 38 years.

Marvin loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He scored the first of his two prize bucks at age 71. His other outdoor pleasures were cutting firewood and planting and tending his large vegetable garden.

Marvin was a past Fire Chief of the Pawlet Fire Department and a founding member. He was a community minded man who was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone out. He knew many people and if asked, each might paint a different picture of who Marvin was. He loved storytelling and was known to share many events that happened long ago with remarkable clarity.

Marvin was predeceased by his parents, by a sister Ruth Laporte and a daughter Kelly Sue Waite.

He is survived by his wife Betty (Burden) Waite and his daughter Elaine Morris (Mark) of Springfield and a son Keith Waite of Pawlet. He was blessed with two grandchildren Brynn Kane (Jacob) and Bethany Bride (Seth) and three great grandchildren Jaxon, McKenna and Keegan.
