Lambert Edgar (Ed) Barnes Jr.
Granville, NY – Lambert Edgar (Ed) Barnes, Jr., age 87, a longtime resident of Hebron, passed away on February 14, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.
Ed was the first-born son of the late Lambert and Extelsia (Hassell) Barnes.
After high school Ed served as a seaman on an aircraft carrier in the US Navy and then the Naval Reserves.
Ed was a hardworking man and wore several hats over the years. He will be remembered for "Ed Barnes TV", the Granville Main Street business he and his first wife Mim started together. Ed has so many hobbies and talents. He especially loved car racing, both driving his stock car at Devils Bowl and watching NASCAR. He was a faithful fan of the late Dale Earnhardt and currently Tony Stewart. Ed will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Ed was predeceased by his older sisters Maie Juckett, Catherine Goodspeed and Barbara Taylor, his younger brother George, his first wife Miriam (Leet) Barnes (the mother of this two daughters) and his son-in-law Bruce Herrick.
Survivor include his wife of 39 years, Marion (Glasier), daughters Sherry Herrick and Susan (Daryl) Dodge all of Granville. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Mindy (Herrick) Lyons of Quechee, VT., Sarah (Eric) Hopkins of Elma, NY, Jennifer (Mike) Hicks and Stephen (Rachel) Dodge of Granville. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Tom and Billy Lyons and Addison Dodge. His younger sister Elaine (Richard) Menapace of Cortland, NY and his youngest brother Ronald (Barbara) of Marathon, NY as well as his devoted dog Marshall also survive him.
At Ed's request, there will be no calling hours. A life celebration will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.
