Obituary of David Robert Hafele

David Robert Hafele Fort Ann, NY - David Robert Hafele, 60, passed away peacefully after his short battle with cancer on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the town of Walton, New York on April 8th, 1958 the son of the late Robert David and Dianne (Kilpatrick) Hafele. He shared his childhood with his sister, Brenda, brother, Joe and the Hendee cousins. David graduated from Walton Central School, class of '76 where he found joy in playing football and wrestling all while working as a proud dairy herdsman. He then continued on to master his skills and talents in carpentry and masonry. David had a strong work ethic and derived satisfaction and pride as a skilled builder for over 40 years. Next to his family, David loved being outdoors. This was reflected by his dedication to tree planting, hunting, fishing, gardening and his love for blue birds. He was generous with his time and talents and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had an infectious smile and a generous nature. David is survived by his wife of 36 years Cathy Ann (Howard) Hafele, his two children Joshua David Hafele (Tazhiana Gordon) and Jaimee Lynn Hafele, sister Brenda Dwyer (Kevin), brother Joseph Hafele (Mary). Also surviving is his extended family, Aunt Sandra Hendee, Uncle Dick and Aunt Mary Hafele, nieces and nephew Maggie, Ryan, Molly, Brie, and Liza. David is also survived by several beloved cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends. The Hafele family wishes to extend a most heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Glens Falls hospital for their love, support, dedication, and compassion for David and our family. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the West Hebron Presbyterian Church, 3153 County Rte. 30, Salem, NY 12865 from 1 -2 pm with a funeral at 2pm. At the request of the family memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to West Hebron Presbyterian Church in memory of David. Arrangements were entrusted to the Robert M King Funeral Home, Granville, NY.
