I’m so so sad to have received this. Her obituary was just beautiful... I remember all of those charity events she organized ...she was amazing
Dianne was one of the sweetest and funniest ladies I ever knew. I originally met her when I was about six years old. My Ga (grandmother) owned the restaurant on Rt 22 right after Tammy Billow’s house. Diane waited tables at the restaurant. The customers adored her. My mom would take us to visit . Dianne would always help me find all the Beatles songs on the jukebox , then serve me the most delicious chocolate cream pie I’d ever had . Dianne’s mom , Suzy, made all the pies for the restaurant. Everyone loved them , especially me. I was fascinated watching Dianne wait on customers . She was the original “ Flo” that would tell them to “ kiss her grits” and they loved it! In later years Dianne worked at Scottie’s . I always looked for her first when I brought my visually impaired grandfather in for a freihoffer cinnamon donut and a Pepsi. She was so kind to him and of course we always laughed - always laughter ... as I grew older , I’d dine at Scottie’s with my parents or friends. My dad and Dianne went back and forth joke after joke . My dad loved someone who could give it right back to him ...all those old men did .Dianne was more than capable of jokingly putting the old geezers right in their place . It was so fun to watch!
I remember meeting Ronnie on the tennis courts by telescope . I was in my teens , Ronnie was probably in his 40. We’d watch him and Berkie ,Bob Van and others play tennis . I was surprised that they were so “ old “ ( lol) and wished I could play tennis when I got that age! I’m pretty sure I played doubles a few times with Ronnie ... a terrific guy . He was everything to Dianne and she was everything to him. They were a very beloved couple . I know it broke her heart to lose him.
I also used to take my grandmother to the radio shack on rt 22. She always needed batteries for some visual aid flashlight kinda thing she had. She could have gotten them right across the street but always insisted on going to see Dianne . They were always so warm to each other. Lifelong memories of lifelong friends. Dianne was so patient with her and again funny, funny, funny. Ga adored her and loved seeing her. It was always obvious that Dianne felt the same . If Ga wasn’t with us, Dianne always asked my mom or me how she was doing - and truly cared.
I’m so sad to loose such a wonderful wonderful friend. Rip and I just can’t thank you enough for all the fun times. You were really something else . Warm hugs to her family . You were everything to her.... and only you got to call her “mom”. Special love you Sharon Maranville as I know you are all close
