Whitehall, NY - Richard L Duel passed away following a long illness at Slate Valley Center in North Granville on December 25, 2023.

Richard was born on October 27, 1957 in Granville, NY the son of Ray and Phyllis (Rathbun ) Duel.

He attended Granville Central Schools and received his GED. He enlisted in the Army upon graduation in 1975 and was honorably discharged.

For many years he was employed by Rathbun Landscaping.

He had stage 4 lung cancer which metastasized to his brain. In the spring of 2023 he was diagnosed with tonsillar cancer, and endured six weeks of radiation.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, brother Terry and sister Melissa and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his sister Cindy of Whitehall who was his caretaker, brothers Kenneth of Granville, Jeffrey of Salem and Steven of Granville. He is also survived by a daughter Miranda of Argyle, a granddaughter, Hope Reign Escapite and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Vistation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.
