Granville, NY - Marjorie Ann Thomas, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Slate Valley Center. She was born Marjorie Dudla, on September 24, 1922 in Granville, the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Ponda) Dudla. . Marge married Chauncy Thomas in 1941. Together they had three children: Patricia Osborne of Granville, John of South Granville, and Donna Tessier of Colorado. For many years , Marge worked for St. Mary's Catholic Church doing cleaning in the rectory, helping in the food pantry, and other work. Marge has had several hobbies over the years. Gardening was a special passion and when she lived on East Quaker Street, the flower beds along her driveway were a popular sight for those walking around Granville. She also enjoyed horse riding and was an active member of the Vermont Horseman's Association, and the Rough Riders 4-H Club at Pond Hill Stables in Castleton, VT. She assisted other participants as needed and took up the role of their "adopted Mom." Marge has been a hockey fan for many years, dating back to the Adirondack Red Wing years at the Civic Center and was a season ticket holder. As recently as a couple years ago, Marge attended Adirondack Thunder games, proudly wearing her jersey. Marge was also a winemaker, and when she went to parties, the first question people asked her was, "Where's the wine?" Marge lived with her son John for the last few years. On nice days she would go out and spend time with the chickens, collecting their eggs, and sharing them with visitors. Her 100th party was held at the Argyle Brewing Company at the Depot in Cambridge. Family and friends celebrated Marge's longevity. She was predeceased by siblings Ann Braw,Frances Mihevc, Frank, Paul and Teresa Niles and husband Chauncey. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Richard Thomas (Leah) of Salem, Sarah Beth, Lori Legault (Richard) of Orwell, VT and John Osborne of Queensbury. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Nelson and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Noon at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 23 Bulkley Ave, Granville, NY with the Rev. Robert Powhida presiding. Friends may call on Wednesday evening at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY from 6-8 PM. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middle Granville, NY following cremation.
