Obituary of Wilma M Crosier

Please share a memory of Wilma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of Wilma Crosier is saddened to announce her passing on April 14 at her home in Granville, NY. Wilma was born on July 8, 1941, the daughter of the late James and Luetta Stewart. A graduate of Granville Central School, she was a well-loved member of the Granville community where she served as a lunch lady for over 25 years. No student went hungry under her watch. Wilma, along with her husband, George, were regular attendees at their children's and grandchildren's sporting events. With five children and six grandchildren, they sometimes had to attend separately and watch only portions of each game, but they could always be counted on to be there. She carried on the tradition long after her children were out of school as an avid supporter of Granville School sports and Legion Baseball. She played sports herself, including basketball, softball, and volleyball. She was an avid collegiate and professional sports fan, with unmatched sports trivia knowledge. If a game was televised, she would watch it, frequently changing channels to watch several at the same time. She would excitedly summon the household to the living room to watch replays of impressive plays. Wilma was also a master card player, particularly enjoying pitch, and she loved family and friends' games at her sister Anna's farmhouse. She fondly recalled her love of dancing, including square dancing, the jitterbug, and the two-step. The Crosier household was often bustling with her children and their friends, and she made sure that food and snacks were plentiful for all. Wilma coached Little League softball, was a Brownie leader, and Girl Scout cookie manager. She had a garden and canned her own vegetables in her early years. An excellent cook, her apple pie and spaghetti sauce from scratch were family favorites. Surviving her is her husband of 63 years, George Crosier; brother, John (Adrienne) Stewart; children: Lisa (Chris) Towslee, Lori, George, Michelle, Jennifer (Tim) Makepeace; grandchildren: Renee, Eric, Brooke, Will, Kelsey, David; great-granddaughter, Reina; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Clifford and Stanley Stewart, sisters Mary Clement and Anna Fifield, and infant son, David. Services will be private, as per her wishes.
