Obituary of Timothy Elmer Garrick

Please share a memory of Timothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hampton, NY - Timothy Elmer Garrick, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2024 at a job. Tim was born on September 12, 1967, in Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, the youngest child and only son of Elmer and Ethel (Hadaway) Garrick. Tim was an experience growing up. He was very curious about how things "worked". Examples were gears in a piece of farm equipment, which resulted in him loosing a couple fingers. Best case scenerios were the ones that he figured out more quickly and that were less dangerous curiositites. He also went through an "Evil Knievel" phase, complete with helmet, and cape. Truth be known, he maybe never have left that phase behind. He was a wiz with numbers and math. However, he felt that he didn't need or want to over excel too much, passing was sufficient. When he was doing standardized tests, or regents or whatever involved an important grade, he began the test by evaulating what the point value was of each question and from those selecting the ones he knew the correct answers to. Test over. It worked for him almost all the time. His teachers at Washington Academy tried to make him understand the value of completing the entire exam. The answer to that was a hard no, even when his school teacher mother found out about his methods. Tim was a wrestler during high school. Prior to meeting and marrying Doreen, there was Bambie whom Tim had a soft spot for. She was an award winning Jersy cow whom he showed at the Washington Co. fair. Another past time he loved was working on pulling tractors for Jeremy Prouty on "Die Hard Red" and for Jeff Harrions on "Just Money". He also enjoyed grass drags. He met Doreen in the early 90's at Beebe's Thirst Parlor and they hit it off. Though they had previously known each other, that time was the start of something special. Tim was a member of the Eagle's Club in Fair Haven and frequented the Fair Haven American Legion. He will be remembered as a hard worker. He was involved in various phases of construction and most recently was pouring concrete. In addition to his "day" job he frequently could be found working into the evenings doing chores, baling and putting in hay and cutting corn at local farms. Tim was predeceased by his parents. He is loved and cherished by his wife Doreen, his son Timothy Raymond, and daughter Naomi Elizabeth. But his biggest blessing was his grandson Declan Charles Thomas Garrick. His five years made Tim's years heaven on earth. He is also survived by his sisters: Tamme June Taran (Joe) of Hampton and Pamela Sue Thomas (John Custodio) of Whitehall. He was blessed with 6 nephews and 2 nieces: Joseph Taran (Kelly) of Penfield, NY, Nicholas Taran ( Liz) of Denver Co., Nathan Taran of Hampton, Ridge Thomas (Harley) of Middle Granville, Taylor Tewskbury (Shay) of PA and Katarina Patenaude (Leo) of Hampton. He is also survived by Doreen's family and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 1PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY with his sister Pastor Pamela Thomas presiding. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in South Granville where he will be laid to rest with his parents. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 29 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
