Richard J DeFalco Sr. Obituary

Wells, Vermont - Richard J DeFalco, Sr passed away on June 23, 2024 at Rutland Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

Richard was born on January 12, 1953 in Port Chester, NY the son of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Wysk) DeFalco.

He married his high school sweetheart and eventually they landed in Vermont. Together they bought land in the idyllic Vermont community of Wells and built their retirement home together. He built a sawmill and gathered the machinery needed and they did all aspects of their home together, with the walls filled with love.

Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed stamp collecting and hobby airplanes. The hobby airplane interest stemmed from his fascination with aviation. His other passion beside Deborah, was his love of classic cars. Along with that love came pinstriping. It was a look he loved, especially on classic cars, and he was very skilled at executing some great paint jobs.

Basically Richard was the proverbial "jack of all trades''. He was gifted at many things and those that particularly interested him, he fine tuned his skills.

The jobs he held over the years were a reflection of his skills. He worked at Directors Boat Yard which was noted for building world cup boats. His skills at this job were mechanical. He also held a position of stationary engineer at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Research facility and maintenance at Mamaroneck High School.

Richard was predeceased by his parents. He will be missed by his loving wife Deborah (Graziano) DeFalco of Wells and his son Richard J DeFalco Jr. also of Wells. Survivors include his siblings Donald and Kenneth DeFalco.

Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery at a date to be announced.
