Robert George Roberts, 84, of Granville, NY, passed away on August 3, 2024.

Robert (Bob) was born on August 18, 1939 to George W. and Frances E. Roberts in Granville, NY. Upon

graduation from Granville High School in 1956, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force. In 1956, Bob

met the love of his life, Freda F. Fowler of Hartford, NY. Bob and Freda were engaged in 1957, married in

1959, and went on to have five children.

Bob received many awards over his 23-year Air Force career

before retiring in 1979. Bob began his second career in 1981 as a New York State Corrections Officer and

retired in 2002.

Bob was an active member of his local community. He served as a session member of the United Church

of Granville; president and member of the Granville Lions Club; and member of the Granville School

Board.

Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He instilled in his

children the love of God and family. Bob enjoyed traveling and shopping trips with his wife and Sunday

visits with family. "Grampy" loved watching his grandchildren's sporting and musical events and

spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, sister Mary Lawton, and brother Louis Roberts. He is survived by

his loving spouse Freda; children Deborah Roberts (Gary), Lori Roberts, Patty Roberts (Bill), Karen

Roberts, and Robert George Roberts II (Malinda); eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren;

siblings Clara Miller, Ronald Roberts, Charles Roberts, and Barbara Roberts; and several nieces and

nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Peniel Presbyterian

Church, 4 Quaker Street, Granville, NY. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Bob

will be buried at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY on Tuesday,

August 27, 2024 at 10:00 where he will be accorded full military honors.

The family extends a special thank you to his caregivers, his therapists, Dr. Carl Beckler, Dr. Michael

Larson, and High Peaks Hospice for the wonderful care he received.
