Obituary of Catherine L. Surdukowski

Catherine L. Surdukowski, long-time resident of Granville, NY, died on June 7, 2024 in Rogersville, TN. She was born Catherine Louise Gabriel on August 14, 1925, in St. Albans, NY, the daughter of parents Frank Gabriel and Louis (Kunz) Gabriel. She married Frank Surdukowski in 1949 and became the mother of three children. In later life Catherine resided at Everetts Heights Way, and then at the Holbrook Adult Home in Granville. Catherine was extremely fond of all types of needlework and sewing, hobbies she pursued until she was in her nineties. She was also very fond of reading stories, playing the piano, doing crossword puzzles, and assembling puzzles. Her children and grandchildren remember especially her reading to them and her fondness for playing board and card games with them. Catherine's husband Frank and elder son Paul predeceased her in 2001 and 2017; her son-in-law, Terry Terrance, in 2023; her brother, Thomas Gabriel, in 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Carol; son, Stephen; daughter-in-law, Marie Denise; grandsons, Wendell and David Surdukowski and Peter Terrance; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Christine Terrance, grandson-in-law Daniel Conforti, great granddaughters, Alexandria and Isabella Surdukowksi, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 23 Bulkley Avenue, Granville, NY followed by the burial at Our Lady of Mt.
