Obituary of Karlene Eva Allen

Pawlet, VT - Karlene Eva Allen ,age 73, of Pawlet, Vermont died September 26, 2024 at Washington Center in Argyle, NY. She was born on July 18, 1951 in Granville, NY, the daughter of Lawrence J and Shirley (Corey) Gould at Emma Laing Stevens Hospital. Karlene lived in Pawlet all of her life and attended Pawlet school and graduated from Granville High School in 1970. She attended State College for two years for business. Karlene married Chris David Allen on May 6, 1972 at the Pawlet Methodist Church. She was an auditor for the town of Pawlet for 15 years and a school board member for 9 months, filling in the term vacated by Jennifer Hulett when she passed away. Karlene also taught Sunday School at the Pawlet Community Church where she was a member for a number of years. Karlene worked at Manchester Wood in Manchester, Vermont, Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville, NY and then she became a stay at home Mom with her children. She did own a cleaning service during that time as well. In 1989 she started working at McDonald's in Manchester and was an Avon representative since 1998. Her biggest love was for her children, grandchildren and her horses. Karlene was a member of the Trailblazers 4-H Club and attended many shows and gymkhanas. Her fathers bought her a horse when she was thirteen, which was the beginning of many others throughout her life. many others throughout her life. She was also a member of the Vermont Horsemen Association in Castleton, VT. Karlene was predeceased by her husband Chris. She is survived by her daughter Victoria Guilder (Kevin) of Fort Edward, NY and Chris Allen II (Crystal) of Glens Falls, NY. Her grandchildren Justin, Miranda, Christopher and Emily. There was no visitation. A graveside service was held at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Pawlet, VT on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
