Obituary of Barry P. Moore

Granville, NY - Barry P. Moore, age 86, passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on October 6, 2024. Barry was born in Granville on February 28, 1938, the son of Harley and Frances (Schaffer) Moore. He was a 1956 graduate of Granville Central School. For a brief time he worked at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass. In 1961 he and his father built what is now known as Moore's Corner garage. It was constructed as an SO Gas Station. During the construction process Barry was called to active duty in the military. He was proud to be a veteran. He served approximately one year of active service along with his National Guard obligations. He and John McGuire, former owner of H & T Auto both went together to serve their country and were lifelong friends. Upon his return he and his father continued their garage together until his father passed, leaving Barry to run it until the present time. Barry was devoted to the business and was a very hard worker. He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Sandra (Taylor) Moore. He is survived by his companion Marlene Sanders, and his son Dean. He was blessed with two grandchildren Rebecca Moore and Harley Moore and a grandson Henry Barry Moore. Barry is also survived by his sister Patricia Gebo and nieces Suzanne G. Barber and Meg G. Wolfe. Amanda Loomis, his longtime Moores Corners employee will miss him dearly along with her mom Ann. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Granville following the funeral The family encourages donations to the Granville Rescue Squad in his memory.
