Ethel Natalie Tifft of Granville, N.Y., joined her Lord in Heaven on 10/4/2024.
Born December 1st, 1942, to Eva (Hurlburt) and Charles Holcomb of Granville, New York, she was called "Cubbie bear" by her older brother James and sister Eva. This name followed her into adulthood, as she was known as "aunt cub" to many of her nieces and nephews. In 1965, she married Leon Tifft, the Love of her life, and the two raised three children: Lee, Anne, and Heather. Her most significant source of joy was her faith and her family, who she cared for with great Love, strength, and compassion. Her family reciprocated this Love, and it became most evident after her stroke in 2022 when Leon became her sole caregiver. You often heard him tell her," You took care of me all these years; now it is my turn to take care of you." As her body started to weaken due to complications resulting from the stroke, both her immediate and extended family surrounded her as she joined the angels in Heaven and was greeted by her mom, Eva, dad, Charles, brother, Jim, sister Eva, and sister-in-law, Patricia, who were patiently waiting for her to join them in Heaven.
Ethel lived her life caring for others, whether her family, at her job for Washington County Social Services or delivering homemade bread to anyone she knew who needed cheering up. She was an angel on earth and will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Leon; a son, Lee (Vickie); two daughters, Anne (John) and Heather (Randy); five grandchildren, Alicia (Dylan), Evan, and Connor (Mya); Anthony, Kathrine, and Cassidy Jaye; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Bethany; sister's and brother' s-in-law Lorainne, Larry (Kathy), Jack (Mary), and Janet (Ralph); and many nieces and nephews, in addition to her church family.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
