Obituary of David John Morris

David John Morris passed away on December 8, 2024 following a short illness. Dave was born on July 3, 1945 in Granville, NY the son of Harold and Harriet (Howe) Morris. He was a 1963 graduate of Granville High School. Dave joined the Air Force immediately after graduation. He started his military career at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts. He retired from the military 23 years later in Rutland, Vermont where he had also served in the National guard. He was a very proud veteran. He and Carolyn married on September 10, 1966 while he was still serving at Westover. He traveled home every weekend to see her. He and Carolyn created a family of three wonderful daughters of whom he was very proud. Dave worked at the Carpenter's Union in South Glens, Telescope Casual Furniture for many years and then he took a corrections job for the Washington County Sheriff's Dept. He was an avid deer hunter. He was a firefighter for the Henry Hose Fire Dept and was on the drill team. He was also a member of the Modern Woodman in Wells, and the American Legion Post #323 in Granville. He also enjoyed competition in a rifle club and had done pistol competition while in the military. Dave was predeceased by his parents and sister Joan Wright (Arthur). He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn of 58 years. He is also survived by his three daughters Gayle Malinkowski (Jay) of Leicester, VT, Dawn Morris (Ken) of Granville and Gwyn Williams (Keith) of Wells, VT. He was blessed with five grandchildren Amanda Ballard, Adam Ballard, Sarah Juckett, Mark Juckett and Madelyn Williams and great grandchildren Kael Ballard and Quinn Ballard as well as cousins and a nephew. He also enjoyed many happy times with brother in law Jack Reilly and his wife Chris. Dave will be given full military honors at 4 PM at the funeral home prior to visitation which will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4:15-6 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville, NY. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date. Blessed be.
