Wells, VT - David H. O'Neill passed away on December 12, 2024 at his home, with family by his side, after a long illness.

Dave was born on December 1, 1944 in Summit, NY the son of the late Albert E. and Vera (Boughton) O'Neill.

Dave was a proud Army Veteran. He loved working with his hands. Over the years he had done many construction projects, both as a job and helping family. He was also an adept mechanic. He owned JWD Trucking with his two sons. Eventually he went to work for Dorr Oil as a mechanic. A favorite project of his was the ground up restoration of a GTO, even down to the paint and upholstery.

His hobbies included deer hunting, Nascar, bowling and pool. He loved going to the county fairs in the summer. The family reminisced of his favorite holiday, Christmas. He enjoyed Christmas shopping and was known to have been tempted to try out the toys as he passed through the toy department which was always met with amusement by his family. He loved his family above all else, especially his favorite grandchild Tessa, who will miss him immeasurable.

He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters Mary and Betty. David was survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Wilma and his children Charles "Chip" Black (Heidi), Jennifer "Jenny" Black-White (Clifford) and John A. "Johnny" Black (Jill). He was blessed with seven grandchildren Quintessa "Tessa" Litchfield, Kyle Litchfield, Tyler Black, Lilly and Paulie Cameron and Sawyer and Gavin Bennett. As great as David's love for his family was, theirs was as great or greater.

The family wished to extend the heartfelt thanks to nurses aides Catalin Jameson and Kelly Lowell for the care they gave during his illness. But the children also wish to extend a thanks to Wilma. She was an amazingly devoted and loving wife who was his only caregiver for five long years.

At his request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
