David H. Doty of New Boston Road, Granville NY, passed peacefully in his sleep on 1/3/25 after

a long and happy life. He was born on 2/16/35, the son of Maurice Doty and Mary Gilbert Doty.

Dave served 4 years in the Air Force right after high school. Dave was proud of his service in

the military and was also a member of the American Legion. He then worked at Decora as a

millwright for 37 years and retired at age 62 in 1997. Dave was an avid coin collector and loved

sports, notably race car driving and football. He loved to drive race cars and motorcycles and

was a lifelong Jets fan. He loved to go to Devil's Bowl Speedway and drove his own race car

for many years. Dave loved to watch the stock market numbers and was a sharp investor.

Dave was a long time member of St. Peter and Paul's Church in Granville. He was always

described as a character and had a sense of humor loved by all.

Dave married Patricia A. Wheeler on August 20, 1961 and the couple celebrated their 63rd

wedding anniversary last year. They are parents to Mary K. Doty (Dave Bisson), Dawn Delisle

Wetherell (Brian Wetherell), Kim Prehoda (Stephen Prehoda), and Daryl Doty (Tracy Winchell

Doty). They are grandparents to Addison Delisle (Nicole) and Dustin Doty (Bri). They are great

grandparents to Hayden, Rylee, Kirra, Brayden, Katey, and Ryan.

Most important to Dave was certainly his family. Dave's title of Bumpa to his grandchildren was

one of his proudest titles. He was always present for his children's school events and was

surely an unofficial coach to many other children over the years. The annual Gilbert Family

Reunion was never missed by Dave, and his extended family also meant the world to him.

The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 4-6 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street., Granville, NY.
