Emily Marie Petteys Granville, NY - Emily Marie Petteys (Crockett), passed into the prescence of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on December 16, 2023. Born on Valentines Day 1962, in Rushville, NE, Emily was the daughter of Joshua and Mary Lou Crockett. Emily graduated from Granville High School in 1980. She attended Liberty Baptist College and Adirondack Community College. Emily married Phillip Petteys in Setpmber 1985, and they were blessed with their son Ryan Petteys in 1987. Emily was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes at age 6. Emily never let diabetes define who she was. She endured many health issues and physical struggles throughout her life, she chose not to be bitter but to trust in the God who gave her the strength to endure. Emily's faith in God and evident grace she had in trials were a testimony to the peace that only God can give. She was thankful and appreciative to God for her blessings. Emily's husband Phil was her sweetheart and her hero, always at her side and loving her through every struggle they faced. Her son Ryan was her pride & joy and filled her life with laughter and fun. Besides her husband and son, Emily is survived by her sister Hannah Crumley, brothers and sisters in-law, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first child lost in miscarriage, her parents: Joshua and Mary Lou Crockett and brother, Joshua David Crockett. Emily was an enthusiastic member of the Truthville Baptist Church and served in many capacities throughout her life. She throughly enjoyed teaching the teen girls. Emily was known for her funny and spunky personality; she could spin an amusing tale. Emily was a Domestic Engineer; she loved to hostess big parties and cook for crowds, a cookie maker extraordinaire. She had Christmas in her bones, she loved decorating the whole house and she loved making SO MANY bonbons every year and every year she swore she wouldn't make that many ever again! She was industrious and organized, a good time manager and knew how to keep her priorities straight. She was a doting Mother and Aunt, she loved all the "kids" in her life and was fiercely devoted to her family. She never met a cat she didn't like, and she adored her own cats. Both of Emily's parents were from Tangier Island, VA. Tangier was near and dear to their family. Emily loved to visit there, next to her home with Phil it was a place she longed to be. How can we sum up a life so vibrant? Emily was a prayer warrior and a woman of great faith in Jesus. Her sister always said, "she is the toughest girl I know". Emily was aksed how that could be and she said, "its not me, its Christ in me!" Services will be at Truthville Baptist Church, North Granville, NY on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Visitation will be from 1 - 2:30 PM. Funeral will be at 2:30 and burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Truthville Baptist Church. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caregivers Lynn Morse and Tammy Yell for the loving help they were to Emily in the last month providing her care at home.
