Jean Lorraine Andrews, age 83, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Jean was born on June 4th, 1940 in Connellsville, PA, the daughter of the late John and Effie Irene (Spargy) Detling. She attended Bullskin Township School and graduated from Connellsville High School in 1958. She then attended Durbin Business School, graduating in early 1960. In June of that year Jean joined the US Army, doing her basic training in Alabama, moving on to San Martin Hospital where she trained as a PFC Medical Specialist. Jean was then assigned to the hospital at Fort Benning where she met Spec 5 Legal Specialist Rejolyn "Andy" Andrews in October of 1960. They married two months later on December 1st. After discharge from the military, Andy and Jean moved to Comstock, NY in 1967. In November of 1968 they bought a house in North Granville where they raised their three children and welcomed their grands and greats. Jean worked at General Electric in both Hudson Falls, and Fort Edward plants for 25 years until her retirement in 1996. Jean and Andy spent the next 20 years traveling and camping across the US and Canada. Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Andy, a son Keith and a brother Ronald Detling, two sisters-in-law, Rose Andrews and Peggy Dtling with whom she was very close. Left to cherish her memory are her children Melissa Andrews and companion Carlton Bradley of Port Kent, NY and Priscilla Constantine (Craig) of Granville, NY. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Jean was also blessed to have a best friend for over fifty years, Rose Wilbur of Whitehall, NY. Nana had a very special bond with her eldest great grandchild, Kobe Hansen of Greenwich, NY. They enjoyed watching movies, playing video games and listening to Eminen , sometimes late into the night. When Kobe got his driver's license he and Nana would "take off" together to "blow some money". They once drove to Florida for a one week vacation. In respect of her wishes, there will be no visitation. Online condolences may be made at www.robertmkingfuneralhome.com
