Born in Lewisboro, NY on February 23, 1930. Mary was the daughter of Charles H. and Nellie (Kercher) Joslyn. Her childhood was spent with her parents, sister Burgess and Aunt Lillian Kercher on Onatru Farm in Lewisboro. As a young person she loved living on the farm with all the animals, riding horses and helping her father.
Mary graduated from Katonah High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, Richard H Kellogg on September 21, 1949, in South Salem NY at the old Congregational Church.
They live in Katonah for many years. Mary was very active volunteering in the community including Methodist Church, Girl Scouts and other local organizations.
She and her husband moved to Granville in 1987. They loved their house on the side of the mountain; they made many wonderful friends through the church, neighborhood and community. They always enjoyed the out of doors, camping, traveling cross country and many years at their cottage in Cape Cod. Mary was a member of the Granville Congregational church. She was their church historian for many years. She worked hard along with others to get information for grants and historical recognition for Lemuel Haynes and Haynes House of Hope. Helping to organize and get it built and up and running. She also loved gardening and was a member of the Farm and Garden Club.
Mary always loved writing poetry and with the encouragement of her dear friends, Jon Katz and Maria Wulf, she was able to have four books published. It gave her much joy after losing her husband in 1997.
Many spent her last few years at Holbrook Adult Home getting amazing and loving care from the wonderful staff and residents. Many thanks from her family to everyone at Holbrook.
